Who runs Compass
Compass is operated by Compass Software (sole proprietorship, eenmanszaak), Sarphatipark 88-2, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. KVK 42084074. BTW NL005438006B23. Contact: hi@compassapp.money.
What Compass is
Compass is a personal finance app. You tell it your income, plan, and goals; it shows you how long until you reach them, in plain time. It works worldwide, in English at launch.
What Compass is not
Compass is not a bank, payment institution, investment firm, or regulated financial advisor. Nothing in the app is investment, legal, tax, or regulated financial advice. The projections shown are estimates based on the numbers you enter. Always consult a qualified professional before making material financial decisions.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old.
Your account
You agree to give us accurate information, keep your sign-in private, and not use Compass to break the law or compromise the service.
Ending your account
You can leave at any time. Cancel your subscription from Me → Billing, or write to us at hi@compassapp.money. Cancelling stops future payments and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. To delete your account and your data entirely, use Me → Your data → Delete account, or ask us and we will do it for you.
When we may suspend or close an account. If it is being used in a way that breaks these terms; if it is being used unlawfully or to harm other people or our service; if payment has failed and remains unpaid after the grace period in our Refund Policy; or if we are required to by law or by a regulator.
How we will do it. Except where the law requires otherwise, or where an account is being used unlawfully or in a way that puts our service or other people at risk, we will tell you before we suspend or close it, explain why, and give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right. Where we have to act immediately, we will tell you as soon as we can afterwards and explain why.
If you think we got it wrong. Write to hi@compassapp.money. A person will review the decision, and if we were wrong we will restore your account.
What happens to your data. For 30 days after an account is closed you can ask us to export your data and we will provide it. After 30 days we delete it, except where we are required to keep records for legal or tax reasons, which is described in our Privacy Policy. Closing an account does not by itself entitle you to a refund; refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
If we stop offering Compass. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice, stop charging you, refund the unused portion of any period you have paid for, and give you a way to export your data before it is switched off.
Your responsibility for how you use Compass
Compass is for your own personal use. If you use it in a way that breaks these terms or the law, and someone else brings a claim against us because of what you did, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur in dealing with that claim.
This applies only to claims arising from content you upload that you did not have the right to upload; your use of Compass on behalf of someone else without their permission; your use of Compass for a business, resale or automated purpose we have not agreed to in writing; or your deliberate breach of these terms.
It does not apply to any dispute between you and us, and it does not apply where the claim results from our own error, our own breach, or anything we were responsible for. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer, and nothing here requires you to cover costs that a court would consider unreasonable or that the law does not permit us to recover.
We will tell you promptly about any claim covered by this section, give you a reasonable opportunity to respond, and will not settle it in a way that creates an obligation for you without asking you first.
Subscription, billing, and trial
Compass is a subscription. New accounts get a 14-day free trial. We ask for payment details when you sign up; your card is charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel before.
All billing, invoicing, and tax handling is done globally by Paddle as our Merchant of Record. Two prices apply: US and Canada at $8.99 per month or $79 per year, everywhere else at €7.99 per month or €69 per year. The price for your region is shown at checkout.
Cancellation and refund
You can cancel anytime from Me or by emailing hi@compassapp.money. Cancellation stops future billing. Access continues to the end of the paid period.
For EU and UK consumers, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies. You can request a full refund within 14 days of your first paid charge.
Intellectual property
The Compass name, mark, design, code, and content belong to Compass Software. These terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.
Your data belongs to you. Using Compass grants us a limited licence to process it as our privacy policy describes.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Compass is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Compass is provided as is. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, for example personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. The courts of Amsterdam have exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute.
Arbitration for US residents
If you live in the United States, you and Compass agree that any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration happens in your county of residence or by video. You and Compass each waive any right to participate in a class action.
You may opt out of this clause by emailing hi@compassapp.money within 30 days of accepting these terms. You can still bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we update the date above and email everyone with an active account.
Effective date
